Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We treat that as a working standard rather than a badge — accessibility is something we keep testing as the site changes.

What we’ve built in

• A “skip to content” link as the first focusable element on every page
• Semantic headings and landmarks, so screen reader users can navigate by structure
• Visible focus outlines on every interactive element, never removed
• Full keyboard operability, including the navigation menu and the contact form
• Descriptive alternative text on product photography, with purely decorative artwork hidden from assistive technology
• Form fields with real associated labels, required fields marked, and validation messages that move focus to the field that needs attention
• Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320px, and respects your browser’s font size settings
• Full support for prefers-reduced-motion — if your system asks for reduced motion, every decorative animation on this site stops and content appears immediately
• The heat rating on each flavour is conveyed in text as well as by the pepper icons, so it does not depend on seeing the graphics

Known limitations

We would rather tell you about these than let you discover them:

• The store map. Interactive maps are difficult to make fully accessible. Every retailer shown on the map is also listed as plain, keyboard-navigable text on the same page, grouped by island — the map is never the only way to get that information.
• Label artwork. Our product labels are photographs of physical packaging. The text within those images is described in the surrounding page content rather than transcribed character for character.
• Third-party components. The bot-protection widget on the contact form is provided by Cloudflare, and we do not control its markup.

If any part of this site stops you doing what you came to do, we want to know — that is a bug, and we will fix it. Use the contact form and tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way. Include the browser and any assistive technology you use if you can, and we will reply.

If reaching us through the form itself is the problem, ask someone to send it on your behalf and we will follow up however suits you best.
